How to wear winter clothes into early spring

early spring inspiration

I get a lot of questions around what colors are the best for my skin tone and what colors can I wear with what? Spring time is one of the best times for color and bringing together the natural beauty of florals and patterns to give your closet a breath of fresh air.

These pants from Zara are a perfect transition piece from winter into early spring. It's a rich color that can be easily integrated into any neutral heavy wardrobe. Which let's be honest... the majority of my clients have about 60% neutrals in their closet!

Pair them with this light, but chic sweater for those cooler mornings, or cold climates in the office.

To give the look a bit of personality and fashion, throw on a blue suede heel or flat. As mustard (orangey-yellow) and blue are complementary colors on the color wheel, see below.

The reasoning for it be pleasing to the eye and why it works has a little bit of science behind it.

Complementary colors, when used together in color schemes, are especially dynamic and pleasing to the eye. This is because different types of cones (the photoreceptor cells in your eye that contribute to color vision) perceive different colors of light. If you stare for a long time at a block of color and then quickly look at a white wall, you'll see a light afterimage in the opposite, or complementary color.

So going into Spring don't be afraid to mix it up and try your own version of a complementary color outfit!
