How to build a work wardrobe that isn't just 9-5

First of all, happy holidays! Thanksgiving flew by before I knew it- gathering with family and friends for yummy treats and lots of football watching! And Christmas is right around the corner!

I'm so sorry I've been on a bit of a hiatus over the last few weeks as I've been working like crazy styling lots of new clients and adding tons of other exciting things to the website. One of these new additions I'm stoked to tell you about is that I officially have my packages updated and ready for the holiday season! Can anyone say gift certificate stocking stuffer?!

Over the last few weeks I've been working with a corporate client, styling lots of amazing men and women from everything from building their work wardrobe to adding in some fun, trendy looks to make getting ready for work fun every morning! So this week, I'll be sharing some tips and tricks that are the most important things to keep in mind when starting a foundation for your wardrobe.

Tip & Trick One

Master Interchangeability

If selected carefully a man with only 2 suits, 4 dress shirts, 4 ties and 2 pairs of shoes has 64 different combinations at his disposal! Pretty amazing huh?!  While a woman's closet is expanded a bit more, the same principles can be applied!

One of my biggest philosophies that I believe in is having your wardrobe work for you! You should be able to interchange your work items for weekend and office in no time flat to save you time and money! Believe it or not- most people only wear 20% of their closet on a regular basis.

Here are a few of my favorite trends this season that give you the best bang for your buck from 9-5 to date night and weekend warrior appropriate!

The Soft Shell Jacket

This item is a sure-fire way to maximize the most out of your winter wardrobe! Throwing on one of these jackets will instantly transition you to any type of event. Pair with a pencil skirt and button down for work; or wear with your favorite white tee and distressed jeans for a chic, date night look! Or top off your favorite go-to dress to streamline your work look or glam it up for a holiday party!

The not so Legging, Legging

And yes, if they have pockets in the back- you can wear them to the office for the comfiest business casual look! Now fit on these are important. You definitely want to ensure that they just skim the body and are professional. But paired with a button down and one of these soft shell jackets or a blazer and you're all set for your next business meeting in style! Or throw these on with a loose, chic sweater for a classy winter ready look for your weekend plans!

Bootie, Bootie, Bootie, Bootie Rockin' everywhere

For maximum versatility, the bootie is my favorite style this season... well actually this year! This item is in love with all seasons and can be worn with slacks, a pencil skirt or a sleek dress for a total on trend look! Or wear with shorts and light sweater come spring and summer!

And yes, every woman can wear booties!

A few rules to remember- if you're petite like me, the bootie needs to be cut lower just at the top of your foot (low ankle) to give you the most leg possible. Or if you do go for a mid-ankle bootie wear a mini skirt or shorts with tights. If you're a bit taller and have a longer leg, go all out. This style is one of the most flattering for you!

I hope you learned a little bit and enjoy this post! Come back tomorrow for my next tip & trick on how to effortlessly build your a wardrobe that works for you- whether it's the office or a weekend event!

I'd love to know which item you're going to invest in this holiday season... or ask for on your wish list?! Please share this post, #worktoweekend and shout out to which item is your favorite!

Until next time!
